The Mediterranean

The Costa Blanca, right on the Mediterranean, is one of the most important tourist enclaves in Europe due to its miles of beaches with crystal-clear water and fine golden sand, over 300 days of sunshine a year and an average temperature of 20º C..

Without a doubt, the Costa Blanca, located in the Alicante region, forms an exceptional coastline that extends from Santa Pola to Pilar de la Horadada, passing through important cities such as Guardamar, Torrevieja and the Coast of Orihuela, where all year one can enjoy the best beaches, large sport-filled harbours and golfing on the many 18-hole courses.

Mediterranean Sea, preserved by traditions:

  • With a distinguished cuisine that transcends borders:

The Mediterranean gastronomy has attained a unique international reputation. There are first class restaurateurs from Girona to Murcia, passing through Denia, that use this basic cuisine known for the richness of its primary ingredients and "healthy" nature (olive oil, fruits, vegetables and fish) to highlight their creative culinary talents. In addition, there are thousands of permanent euro-residents along the Mediterranean shores that are discovering the more traditional and popular cuisine.
  • With an elaborate Cultural Tradition:

The traditional Mediterranean culture encompasses numerous and colourful holidays ranging from the Fiestas of Moors and Christians to the highly celebrated Holy Week. These are celebrations scattered throughout the entire year.
  • All of that complemented with a distinctive Architecture:

The Mediterranean architecture is characterized by a type of construction that is dominated by pure forms, clean lines and an uncomplicated style. This is a natural architecture created to serve humanity. Every element is perfectly proportioned and radiates light and cheeriness thanks to the wide use of the colour white.

It is, without a doubt, an architecture for a certain climate, landscape and light, showing some characteristic elements: Arabic shingles, exposed beams and arched porches. The Mediterranean architecture has been defined by many as "rest for the eyes" and spirit. The Mediterranean has left us an architecture that is part of a valuable heritage full of flavour and colour.
